Problem with whois database and registrars

ICANN has failed to decertify Godaddy, a US registrar with a proven track record of stealing peoples domain names (see http://ripoffreport.com/searchresults.asp?q1=ALL&q4=&q6=&q3=&q2=&q7=&searchtype=0&submit2=Search!&q5=godaddy.com&Search=Search). If you register a domain name with Godaddy, and someone else wants that name and is willing to pay a good price for it, Godaddy will take the name away from you. This is what happened to me for the domain name of regen-med.org My bank records demonstrate that the domain was timely renewed in January of 2008.

.JP Registry: DNAME aliasing for idn.idn?

I read this May 4, 2008 release from the Japan Registry Services entitles "DNAME Issues Regarding IDN TLD
Implementation".

For much of the last year only the term "aliasing" has been used by ICANN staffers, Tina Dam in particulary for the possiblity of converting idn.com, idn.net, idn.jp, idn.tv etc to also alias as idn.idn (equivalents).

Can someone from ICANN shed some light on what is going on with DNAME (solution proposed by Verisign), and also with the options for alising of .com etc. into the new idn.idn space.

$35 Redemption Fee?

I would seriously like to know why I was charged $35 dollars for renewing my domain by ICANN. It costs you exactly zero dollars to have my domain service register my site again. I think ICANN is ripping people off, especially if there is no issue regarding a domain, or its registration. Imagine the obnoxious amount of money these knobs are making off of people who simply forget to renew their domains on time. As well, names4ever.com never says anything about such a fee when you do renew. I think this is tanamount to a scam.

New gTLDs

The workshop “New gTLDs – Shaping the Future of the Internet?” has been scheduled as part of the forthcoming ICANN’s meeting in Paris.
On behalf of PuntoGal –an initiative in favour of a domain for the Galician language and culture- it is our hope that during this session ICANN will establish definitive steps for the new gTLDs application process.

Operation Plan & Budget FY09 - Estimate for new TLDs Application Fee

ICANN posted a draft "ICANN Operational Plan & Budget FY09".
Highlighted projects such as planning to launch new IDN ccTLD/ gTLD and some sTLD are described along with some estimation e.g. for the three- year model it is assumed that organization will receive about 100, 300 and 500 Applications for new TLDs, in fiscal years 2009, 2010, and 2011 (respectively). Fine, but there is no estimated cost per application request is mentioned.

5 day refund policy

I posted this in the public forum as well, but I want to stress the issue:

Why does ICANN have the 5 day refund policy for registrars?
This is only an invite for domain fishing i.e. register and park domains and keep the ones that get enough type-in traffic to cover the registration fees. An invitation to SPAM in other words.

As they say, my 2 Insurance Directory owner cents
