With new gTLDs just around the corner there has been much discussion over who is getting what extension.

What I would like to know is - Are you planning on launching your new gTLD by yourself or enlisting the help of industry consultants/management companies?

lot of people are asking themselves what they would like to buy as a gTld,

we ve seen some talking about .directory, other for city name, but historically when we look at the current gTld, they are all abbreviation (.org organisation, .com commercial et .edu for education)

so why people would change their mind as they are used to this short extension.

IMHO, i think the (two ?) tree letters are going to be the hardest gtld to buy ... especially for this reason ... not only because they are scarce (rare).

How does one go about offering and protecting a new TLD? I have been sitting on an idea for a while and only this morning came upon your website.

It highly concerns me when domain registries controlling a certain TLD raise the wholesale prices they charge to registrars without consultation to domain registrants.

When this happens, all the registrars will need to pay more to the registry for every domain which they register or renew for a customer. They will in turn raise their prices to cover the additional cost to them. Transferring the domains to a different registrar will not help, as all the registrars for that TLD will be forced to raise prices as they all have to pay more to the registry.

Anyone have some ideas that they want to share for potentially great TLD's?

If so, say them in the comments.

I think the .xxx TLD makes the most sense out of any for various reasons.

Just think of cod4.game or bf2.games and so on. Note I linked bf2 and cod4 to wikipedia for anyone who's not familiar with the terms.

What should the identity of .WINE be?
Should it remain in France?
Should the right TLD be .WINE instead of .VIN?
Should we consider the English word for a French culture?
