Why start a petition?

There are many benefits you can get from starting a petition. If a rule has been created that you think would create a big problem to you and the people involved, then you can show your right and fight against it by starting a petition.

It is our right to defend ourselves and when someone does something that is violating your right or has planned on doing something that would most definitely create chaos to many people, then it is your sore responsibility to defend that right.

If, for example, a president of a company suddenly decided not to give a 13th month pay to all its employees for the reason of cost cutting, the employees have the right to act against it because it concerns them and it violates their right because by law, employees deserve to get their 13th month pay. In cases like this, a petition is appropriate and is actually expected already. Other people would go the extra mile and call on a strike or would start their own form of rebellion in the hope that their violent reaction would create positive results. This is definitely not the case because by doing so, the employees may end up losing their jobs because they would end up violating several laws of the company such as absent without leave and such.

When you start a petition, you are fighting for your right without violating any rules and without being violent. It is best to make the right decision and show the petitionee that you choose to fight for your right without making any unnecessary actions that may cause more harm than good.

Just remember, the petitions are the only effective if majority of the people concerned had signed it. At least 51% of the population should sign the petition before it would take notice. If not, it would just be as good as junk. A petition is a means of voicing out the concern of the majority which is why it needs at least 51% signatures for it to be considered successful. But of course, the result is still dependent on the action of the petitionee or petitionees. If they still will not take action despite your petition, then perhaps you’d need to take the next step in voicing out your concerns.

If petitions won’t do the trick still and the petitionee still won’t fold, you can take other “legal” actions. You should not resort to leaving your job for a few days and stuff like that because it still won’t do you any good. If you do that, it’s like showing the world that you are just like a rebelling little child who is throwing tantrums. Show them that you know better than that and that you know your rights and you can handle the situation without giving them the chance to point fingers on you. File a case, or take other safe actions so they would end up answering your petition.

Remember, you must know your rights and you must know what actions to take.
