$35 Redemption Fee?
I would seriously like to know why I was charged $35 dollars for renewing my domain by ICANN. It costs you exactly zero dollars to have my domain service register my site again. I think ICANN is ripping people off, especially if there is no issue regarding a domain, or its registration. Imagine the obnoxious amount of money these knobs are making off of people who simply forget to renew their domains on time. As well, names4ever.com never says anything about such a fee when you do renew. I think this is tanamount to a scam. So, you keep having your meetings and pretending to be an advocate of the Internet community. Some of us can hear you laughing all the way to the bank.

Not ICANN charging, it's your registrar
Hi Travisrex,
I am pretty sure you will find that it is your registrar that has charged you $35 to renew your domain. ICANN takes only 20 cents from domain registrations.
The registrar system is a competitive market - if you feel you have been poorly treated, you are entitled to vote with your feet and move to a different registrar.
If you feel your registrar has broken its contractual obligations with ICANN, then we will investigate. Equally if your registrar refuses to allow you to move your domain to a different registrar we will also investigate. But ICANN only helps set the ground rules for a very competitive market - we are not responsible for all domain name interactions.
If you feel that ICANN is taking too much money or spending it unwisely, you have an opportunity to explain how and why between now and 20 June - please go here for more information: http://www.icann.org/en/announcements/announcement-17may08-en.htm
I hope this helps, please do get back if you have other questions.
