.ASIA TRANSFER ???'s

Hi, I have recently preregistered several .asia domain names and also registered them today, as .asia is live. My question is under the "who-is" for .asia it says that I am prohibited from transferring the domain name(s). I have registered. Is this common practice? Will I be able to transfer them after a certain time period? Any explanation is appreciated. Have a nice day, Chris

Hi Chris, The answer from me is: I don't know. But I have pointed .asia at your comment and asked them to get back. I will chase up in a few days if they haven't got back. Kieren

60-day no transfer policy

Hi Chris, I have the explanation for you. ICANN's policy is that a domain name cannot be transferred for 60 days after its initial registration. It's in section 3 of the Inter-Registrar Transfer Policy, visible here: http://www.icann.org/transfers/policy-12jul04.htm So it is ICANN policy; it is 60 days. After that you should be able to transfer to a new registrar if you so wish. I hope this answers your question. Please get back if you have further questions. Kieren
